Energy Nexus implements hexagonal grid mechanics where spatial adjacency determines movement possibilities. Unlike traditional square grids, hexagonal topology creates six potential movement directions per cell, requiring players to calculate pathfinding through occupied and empty spaces before executing drag operations.
The merge system operates on a four-element threshold: when four identical energy types occupy the grid simultaneously, they combine into the next progression tier. The eight-level element chain follows Bolt, Vortex, Orb, Wave, Data, Crystal, Core, and Burst, with each level requiring exponentially more strategic planning to achieve.
Location progression uses an energy accumulation model where every four-element merge contributes to a percentage-based bar. Reaching 100% unlocks the next environment, each featuring distinct visual themes while maintaining core hexagonal mechanics. Endless Mode removes the progression cap, allowing infinite strategic play focused on achieving maximum-level Burst elements and extended chain reactions.
